Martial Arts

This is an overview of how how the martial arts has changed my life and kicks off the Positive tip part of the site. And this is how martial arts can change the lives of you, youth and kids in your area as well.

Firstly I would like to share with you our codes of conduct that all my students must say on a daily basis in class and these codes are meant to be lived by. >

  1. Be loyal to your country
  2. Be obedient to your parents
  3. Be cooperative between brothers
  4. Be respectful to your elders >
  5. Be faithful to your friends
  6. Be faithful between your teacher and fellow students and Karateka
  7. >Be honest in your personal affairs
  8. Be helpful to the weak
  9. Never "KILL" anything without a reason " let me elaborate on this one this   means the smallest plant, insect or anything everything and everyone has a purpose on this planet if it's not bothering you or hindering your will to live leave it alone."
  10. .Always finish what you start

The term Karate breaks down also in a way that it helps us become better martial artist and individuals.

K-knowlege " one must achieve knowledge in order to prosper in anything he/she does throughout life."

A-attitude " if you dont have the right attitude thru life or in your training one will fail to achieve goals in life"

R-righteousness " One must be right with oneself to gain confidence and strength to build and learn"

A-ability " You must have the ability to want to learn and train hard everyday to succeed in all you do in life."

T-training " You must be willing to train hard or none of these things are going to come together for you."

E-effort "If you give 100% effort in your training and in life you will be rewarded with all your goals achieved."

If anyone feels a deep desire to learn martial arts these are the things to look forward to. It humbles you and gives you peace within your self and soul. It has helped me thru years of training and hardships and I still know that by humbling myself that I am not totally invincible that I'm only human and that all the martial arts training in the world can't stop bullets.

It just gives me peace and strength and something to look forward to in the next day to come. Teaching gives me a pleasure to share with children and teens that is totally out of this world.

Karate and TaeKwonDo are Asian systems of self-defense Although there isn't much difference between the 2 arts other than their origins some may argue that they both began and had a Chinese influence in the early 15th to 16th century. At that time martial arts was developed for defense of ones life and or village. A whole village would train in one style that was passed on to them from an elder in the community. Although Karate is a Japanese art theirr are several different arts in Japan that were being developed. Judo, Aikido, Goju-Ryu, Shori-Ryu, Iado, and several others. TaeKwonDo is the Korean art that was developed durineg the same time period in Korea. The term TaeKwonDo (TKD) was not yet established, many went by the term Taekyon, SooBak, taesoodo amongst others.

In 1960 the term Taekwondo was estblished by the Korean TKD federation. TKD literally means "way of hand and foot defense" Karate "Way of empty hand fighting" In my 14 yrs of training in the martial arts I have trained in American Karate-do and Chung do Kwan TaeKwonDo. In my opinion the two systems are quite similar in Hyungs or Kata (forms). Now in the traditions of Goju/Shori/Shorin RYU Karate they do tend to be a lot different than that of the traditional TKD. (I have no experience in any of these Ryu systems)

Now I have found the discipline of these arts in the new age of "sport martial arts" ie. Karate/ TaeKwonDo have a proved a tremendously effective in programs for the development of the youth of all our communities. The dedicated instructors who teach these arts have passed on the values of our ancestors that they taught us. They have taken the time to instil in each student the basics of discipline that underpinned these arts and by being concerned in our youth, educating our youth and helping them gain focus, attention, readiness, alertness, assertiveness, humbleness, righteousness, self confidence, and so much more.

I feel that the martial arts has given me the strength to carry on and defeat conflicts in my life. The Chinese martial arts like Gung-Fu, Shaolin Kung-Fu, are the internal arts that help us maintain our inner strength and develop concentration that the Japanese and Korean external arts cannot offer.

TO GAIN RESPECT ONE MUST EARN RESPECT

Yours in life and in the arts and as a provider on this board
