LA Gang Documentary

The overall message is to show Gang Banging as a self destructive activity that has devastated and is destroying generations of mostly young ethnic males. And to highlight the fact that it is not something that teenagers just decide to do one day.

The approach was to get Gang members to talk about the major issues of life. To show that they are human, and hopefully help those outside of Gang envrionments to see Gang members as people and not just criminals. The formula for gangs, Acceptance & Excitement is nothing new, but the dynamics of violence and propensity to seek it out has increased dramatically. And I don't see it getting any better any time soon.

I read about events in other countires all the time now that remind of how Los Angeles was in the early 80's. The beginning of the cycle of violence in Los Angeles started as a trickle. What was a few fights here, a stabbing there a drive by every blue moon, turned into a lust for retialiation that pushed the yearly death rate for gang violence to 653 in 1992. Today drive by shootings are so common that the news will not report on it, not even if an innocent 3 year was shot. Everyday someone is getting killed and several more are being shot up. Once the gangs in other countries begin to lose their homeys and the drive for retailiation becomes inbeded, watch out.

Our DVD helps people see how serious gang members are about their lifestyle. It's not just something for them to do, once they are in it, it takes a lot to get them out of it. And when younger generations pick up the formula the level and degree violence will rise.

You can help me get the message out, just to create more buzz and hopefully open up some minds.
